Non-affiliation

OphthoMentor is an independent board-prep platform. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the AAO, ABO, EBO (UEMS), the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO), the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC), or any other examination body or question bank. Trademarks are used descriptively (nominative fair use) only, with no implication of sponsorship.

OphthoMentor is a study aid for exam preparation only. It is not a medical device, and nothing here is medical advice. No clinical decision should be based on OphthoMentor content.

Privacy

Data location: your account and study data are hosted in the EU (Supabase EU region).

Sub-processors (each under an Art. 28 GDPR DPA):

  • Supabase — auth, database and storage in an EU region (Supabase Inc., USA, under EU SCCs).
  • Stripe Payments Europe — billing; we never see or store card numbers.

What we store and for how long

Your GDPR rights

You may access, correct, erase, port, or restrict/object to your data, and withdraw consent (GDPR Arts. 15–21, 7(3)). Erasure and export are in Settings → Account. Complaints: the Swedish authority IMY or your local supervisory authority.

We don't knowingly process data of children under 16; the service is for medical professionals and trainees.

Local storage & cookies

We use strictly-necessary browser localStorage to keep you signed in (Supabase auth token), plus an admin policy flag and an A/B variant. No third-party tracking, advertising, or cross-site profiling. Any future optional analytics will ask for consent first.

Terms of use

By creating an account you agree to these terms.

  • Personal account. One person per account; don't share your login. Shared accounts may be suspended where permitted by law.
  • Two-step verification. Each account registers an authenticator app (TOTP); you may be asked for a code at most once per day per browser. Keep your credentials confidential.
  • Licence. A non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence for your own exam preparation and CPD.
  • No redistribution. Don't republish, scrape, mirror, or resell any content without prior written permission.
  • No AI training. Don't use OphthoMentor content to train, fine-tune, or evaluate machine-learning models without prior written permission.
  • User content. Comments and flags remain yours; you grant us a licence to display and moderate them. Don't post infringing content, patient data, or anything unlawful. Discussions are rate-limited, moderated, and may be locked per question.
  • No warranty. The service is provided "as is"; to the extent permitted by law we disclaim liability for damages. Mandatory consumer rights are unaffected.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Sweden; the courts of Sweden (Stockholm District Court) have jurisdiction. Consumers keep the mandatory protections and local courts of their country of residence. EU/EEA consumers may use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

Right of withdrawal

EU/EEA and UK consumers have a 14-day right to cancel a paid subscription for a full refund (Swedish lag 2005:59; Directive 2011/83/EU). If you ask us to start the service immediately and waive this right at checkout, it does not apply to digital content already supplied. To withdraw, email billing@ophthomentor.com within 14 days.
